You Cannot Stand in the Way of Science" — Shock Protest Against Professor Kagan Dincer

A health conference organised by the UK Department of Health took place this morning in Westminster. The guest of honour was Professor Kagan Dincer, an internationally recognised authority in neurosurgery. However, the conference, which drew significant attention from the scientific community, was briefly marred by an unexpected protest before the keynote speech.

Moments before Professor Dincer was due to take the stage, a group of individuals at the back of the hall stood up and began chanting slogans. The group, consisting of 10 people with far-right views whose identities were not disclosed, shouted provocative and racist slogans such as “We don’t want migrant doctors” and “British hospitals are for British doctors.” Carrying British flags, the protesters reportedly managed to infiltrate the conference venue, bypassing security personnel.

The sudden tension in the room left many academics and attendees stunned. However, security staff and the Department of Health protocol team acted swiftly and cohesively, neutralising the protesters and escorting them out of the venue within minutes. During the roughly two-minute intervention, no physical injuries were reported, though verbal confrontations were noted.

Professor Dincer, who was waiting backstage during the incident, observed the events calmly. Once security was restored, he took to the podium and broke the silence in the room with a statement that earned resounding applause:

“Science knows no nationality. In brain surgery, it is not ethnicity but human life that matters.” At the start of his speech, Professor Dincer expressed satisfaction that the incident was resolved without infringing on freedom of expression, adding, “We are gathered here today to discuss life-saving techniques. Humanity, not ideology, will prevail.” Department of Health officials, joining the conference online, strongly condemned the provocation. In a statement, they said: “All doctors working in the UK health system, regardless of religion, language, or race, are dedicated to the mission of saving lives. Such hate speech will never be tolerated.” The Department also announced that a thorough investigation into the incident has been launched and security protocols will be reviewed.

Authorities highlighted that Professor Dincer was likely targeted due to his international academic reputation, stating: “Those attempting to deter him with such threats will not succeed. Professor Dincer is immensely valued. There is an ongoing legal and highly sensitive process between him and the British government. During this process, we will take the utmost care to ensure the privacy and security he has requested. Our zero-tolerance policy towards those attempting to obstruct the work of scientists with threats and pressure will continue.”

Despite the protest casting a shadow over the event, the presentation quickly shifted focus to the academic agenda. Professor Dincer shared detailed insights into new micro-navigation techniques used in brain aneurysm clipping surgery. Data on the use of Supported simulations for clipping angles and achieving a 98% success rate with intraoperative angiography were met with keen interest from the audience.

Westminster Police have launched an official investigation into the incident and are working to identify the detained protesters. Authorities noted that the group had previously been involved in similar provocative actions at other events. Their ability to infiltrate the venue this time has raised concerns about a significant security lapse. A police spokesperson stated, “We will adopt a zero-tolerance approach to such attacks on public health and academic freedom.”
